Kawai Pianos

Kawai Pianos

Kawai Pianos were originally made only in Japan as its founder, Koichi Kawai, is Japanese. Shigeru Kawai Pianos became known to the world when, after Koichi died his son started a campaign that would bring this piano to a lot of homes in Japan and the rest of the world. To create new pianos of better quality suitable for Japan, Shigeru built one factory to address wood processing and another one for the entire manufacturing process.

Japan has a humid climate which greatly affects the wood materials that make up the piano. Therefore, in the wood processing factory, it became necessary to season the material for a new Kawai Piano so that its lifespan will become longer. So, if you plan to buy used Kawai Pianos, it is good to consider your location and the pianos origin so that you will not find your seasoned Japan-made baby grand deteriorating fast in your dry country.

Because Kawai Pianos are now being manufactured in the US and other parts of Asia, new pianos can be purchased which were created specifically for countries that do not have a humid climate. Also, unlike old models, current pianos are using ABS Styran in key points where the action is constant to ensure tone and touch consistencies for longer periods. This new technology for digital pianos is the reason why new Kawai Pianos come with a 10-year warranty from certain Kawai factories from a certain country including North America.

Popular Kawai Digital Pianos include the award-winning EX Concert Grand and the Kawai CA91. You may also choose to buy upright Kawai K15-E or Kawai K8 pianos. When buying used Kawai Pianos, make sure that these are not more than 20 years old as finding replacement parts for these models will be difficult.
